Proceeds from
the 2026 IAGA Tournament will go towards the LegaSEA 50 project in Des Moines, IA.
Initiated by
the Iowa Asian Alliance, the project plans for a permanent landmark in Des Moines to celebrate
Southeast Asian culture and commemorate 50 years of resettlement in Iowa, facilitated by Gov.
Robert D. Ray.
The landmark, named LegaSEA 50, is set to be located at the corner of Robert D. Ray Drive and
Grand Avenue. It will feature a spirit house at the entrance, along with benches and marquees
designed to offer visitors a place to pause, reflect, and learn about Southeast Asian heritage in
Iowa. A path will be lined with 50 trees, each representing the resettlement journeys of Hmong,
Laotian, Tai Dam, Vietnamese, and Cambodian families.
